The Community English Program of Salem Harbor Community Development Corporation offers classes in English for speakers of other languages. Oral communication is a primary focus. Basics in reading, writing and numeration, are thoughtfully woven into the curriculum, reflecting the needs of our students.
Our program, however, is much more than a language program. This warm and inviting facility has been host to students from as many as 5 continents and 14 countries. When adult learners come together, they share their cultures, stories and motivation to study the English language. Their hard work and determination often result in the realization of personal goals, such as access to community services, work opportunities and U.S. citizenship.
CURRICULUM
Course offerings range from Basic to Intermediate Conversational English. Enrollment determines the schedule and number of classes for each session. Classes meet mornings and evenings, two times per week for two hours per class. Our program is offered during the winter, spring and fall.
